Very good still life. Lovely color, good bg. Not sure about the tarnished vase; I think it works, but...

Thank you, Les. I tried cleaning up the tarnish in PS, but thought it would end up looking worse. Any suggestions would be appreciated. This wasn't my choice for a vase. I found this at someone's house.....

Without the actual vase in front of me, I can't be sure, but I think this would have benefited from what we Old House people call a "butler's polish" which gives a sort of satin effect on silverplate. Hard to say. Could be that the original is down to the copper, in which case you did very well. And I think the distressed look does work to some extent. Of course it's your call!

 

IMO it would be incredibly difficult to 'fix' this in software.
