George, this is a beautiful house and you captured its majesty very well in the color version but what makes it grand is the perspective and multitude of lines, geometric shapes and patterns that are somewhat vague in the color version.

This B&W version is expertly done, the tonal range and contrast is perfect. Your treatment really emphasizes the the beautiful architectural lines and interior decorating that makes this foyer so appealing. Also interesting is that the trees outside the window are still visible and not blown out, which draws your eye all the way through the image.

Eduardo- Thank you. Your strong portfolio adds weight to your comments. Much appreciated.

Amitai- Thank you. Some of my recent work, not all posted on photo.net, has surprised me in that the color versions have been much more powerful than the B&W.

My preference in generally with B&W, but what the jury wants is what we will present, yes?

Kirk- Thank you Kirk. Do I have your permission to quote you? Your testimonial is very much appreciated.

I like this version of the staircase the best, but do you mind if I show you a different editing of it. I adjusted the shadows and the highlights in this one:

Thank you Shawn. Do I mind? Thank you for asking and please rest assured your contributions are much appreciated. Your adjustments on this one are no exception. The window in particular, is improved in your version. Thank you again and please, comments and suggestions such as yours are exactly why I am here!

Cheers.

Thanks George. I once offended a PN member to the point that she certainly did not behave as a lady would have. Since then I tend to preface my suggestions with an apology if I'm unsure.

I noticed the improvement of the definitions in the window, but what I really liked was the better contrast of the shadows in the overhead and walls. Isn't software wonderful...
