I was checking to see if my request for a critique had popped up (thinking I had posted my best pic yet) when I saw this gorgeous picture.

 

The combination of the sun through the clouds with the silhouettes on the beach is quite striking. Great job!

Who was it that said "90% of life is just showing up". This image is a great reminder of why one should always have a camera along. Beautiful framing and yet the most dramatic part, the hole in the clouds doesn't steal your eye, it starts a journey to the children. Great Work here.

Great chance for these natural spotligts ! And good eye to catch them with the children !

Its a wonderful picture, the only thing that could be better, if the mirrored shadows of the children was complete

Great picture, I don't agree with the previous comment that the mirror of the children should be complete though, if the mirror was complete, your eye would be drawn to the children and then would follow the mirror out of the picture. With the mirror cut your eye goes back and focus' on the children. You know the mirror is there but your eye doesn't dwell on it.

Great catch! But I belive a horizontal composition would have been much stronger - half of the sky is space wasted, while more space horizontally would add much more impact.

I think this would really be nice if the childrens' reflections in the sand were not cut off. Maybe less sky at the top too. Otherwise, nice job.

wonderful. may be even better if the shadows of the kids were not cropped?
