zigzag 0 Posted October 29, 2007 Fury may not be the right title but the wispy effect is very attractive - cotton sea. The foreground detail in shadow us good. Not sure you need sky at all. Link to comment
yves_p 0 Posted October 29, 2007 I like your picture as it is. Unless the black rock in the middle has a special significance, I would shift it and also reduce the sky. What do your think? Cheers. Yves P. (http://imagesyves.net). Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted October 29, 2007 Younes, Some valid comments above. I tried converting this to B&W as it is aready monochrome but in the process lost some of the mood the blue tone gives this one. Nice to have a shot with such a lot of options. A keeper no matter your decision. Best, LM. Link to comment
younes 0 Posted October 30, 2007 Thanks everyone for the feedback, I really appreciate it. Yves, I really like what you've done in your version. I will look into it and post a new version when I have some time. Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted October 31, 2007 Younes, having looked at this for a bit now; I am not sure I'd change a thing. I like the composition with the centered rock, and I like the blue tones. It is a very unique and interesting image; makes you look at it again and again - very artistic. Well done! A 7/6 anonymously. Cheers! Chris Link to comment
iancoxleigh 0 Posted November 1, 2007 I'm with Chris. There is an excellent simplicity here that I love (I've become quite attracted to simple compositions of late). I feel the dead-centre rock adds a great sense of balance and harmony here amidst the waves and spray. The darker tonality and the subtle colour work well with the composition as a whole. I usually like some detail in my water-exposures. But, I don't find this too long here. I can see find plenty of detail to catch the eye -- especially on the horizon line. The image does not, however, give a sense of fury for me. As a whole I get a sense of timelessness and also of the passage of time. Maybe 'flow' would capture my feeling there. If I concentrate on the boulder, I also have a strong perception of permanence or endurance. I really like this image. Link to comment
papasan 0 Posted November 1, 2007 Fabulous shot Younes, i really like the composition. As for the comments above, imho, the exposure was just right for the foreground "cotton water" effect. I concur also with the comment about the centered rock and generally symetrical composition which provides solidity to the image while the water provides the fluidity and movement. It's perfectly balanced as it is. I would agree though that you could reduce the sky to keep the focus on the water and rocks, as it is the eye wonders up to the sky and there is not much there that contributes further to the photo. Overall one of your best shot my friend. Regards - michel Link to comment
younes 0 Posted November 3, 2007 Thanks guys...this is a shot that i didn't think much of for while, but has been growing on me... I failed to mention that the reason the water is so white has nothing to do with exposure and all to do with the white foam that covered the water (quite unsightly really)...bit sad that the fury concept didn't come through though..because the sea was insane that day. bradkim 8 Posted November 5, 2007 This is very nice, Younes! I love the muted colors and the composition! I photograph rocks and waves very often, and know that it requires lots of experiments and practices to make such a nice image as this. Link to comment

asr 0 Posted November 14, 2007 I can feel the power of the wave ... this one is really cool. The swirl around the foreground central rock is really nice. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted November 21, 2008 While there may be several alternative crops, your original is simply wonderful. The steadfastness of the foreground rocks, the flowing water, and dynamic waves make for a powerful image. Link to comment
