Damn that contrail on the top left. Otherwise, the lighting is fantastic, and the scene, combining the still-verdant background vegetation with the remnants of that tree stump, is quite compelling.

The composition, lighting and colors are great. I think the photo is under-rated. Very good photo !

Thanks Kyle and John for the kind remarks. My biggest issue with this image is the lack of contrast between the aspen trees and the mountain behind them but what can you do. I waited quite a while for the sun to touch the aspen trees because I wanted light there and I wanted the stump in the foreground... So this is the result, I am mostly happy with it. The ground was slushy frozen and my feet were sinking in several inches with each step. I think I might be crazy but it was so beautiful there at Lundy Lake in fall color. Thanks for taking the time to comment, much appreciated.

I missed this one when you posted. Wonderful color and nice touch with the ol' stump roots. The love the light on the aspens with the mountian back drop. Well done. Michael
