well I find it hard to say whether it was a perfect day to sail from this POV

When it comes to sailing photos I tend to be a bit picky. There is no doubt that the folks sailing are enjoying themselves but the shot doesn't show it , IMHO

Why? Simple. You were just too far from them and opposite the sun. It would have worked for me if there were just silhouettes of the boats, without the sun in my eyes and the faint shapes of the bridge (the Golden gate I presume)just a wee bit of the blue sea and a touch of white sails, maybe some foam...

well..that's how I see it anyway

We can all disagree... I like it. Having the faint icon in the background makes this really work for me. I'd be a lot less interested if it were just a set of mountains back there. But the shape of the bridge back there makes this very a good image, imo.
