I like this photo, but stronger expression on boys face would probably made it much better. Good placing of subject a little of centre (I would probably place him just a little more to the left). Like a tight cropping.

Good photo. Nice tight close-up, not a medium shot of the whole ball field. Knowing enough to make it a close-up is worth a whole letter grade in my class! Excellent intensity. This kid has the energy to be a really good player. To make this photo better, I would suggest that you focus on the eyes and strive to capture the spark of emotion in the eyes. For a first photo I would give this one a strong B++ in my class.

Nice technique, but I'm not buying it. This doesn't look like a guy ripping his mask off to go after a ball; it looks like a guy standing still having his picture taken, in a pose falsely suggesting action.

As for Toms comment, I didn't think he was trying to chase down a ball. Looks more to me like he has just taken off his mask. Maybe Tom could think a little out of the square on this one.
