mike_s85 0 Posted July 7, 2001 incredible, how your shot catches the action and the colours. Link to comment
test11664875106 0 Posted July 18, 2001 Serge, nice picture! I rated 8/7 because in terms of originality this is not frequent picture, however it isn't something really rare - there is no some special expression in people's action or poses. On the other hand, image is sharp, properly exposed (was it in the morning or in the evening?), but may be two things could make this image better: 1) a woman in the front looks quite unstable like she could fall back in very next moment 2)re-composing image with front canoe a bit left from current position and people's plane a little (little!) more turned clockwise. Everything else is nice! Congratulation on good picture! Link to comment
tony_dummett 0 Posted August 15, 2001 I couldn't disagree more with the comment above if I tried. This is a very, very good photograph that captures a moment in time perfectly. I don't think anyone looks as if they're going to fall out of the boat, but who cares if they are anyway? That's what makes it a good photograph! Forget about cropping and editing suggestions (these should be banned from photo.net as they seek to gild the lily). The scan is really beautiful with rich colors and good, natural contrast range. I feel like I was there. In my books that's the best thing that anyone can say about a picture. How you got the people in the boats with Velvia in that subdued light without shaking the camera, I don't know. That in itself is a praiseworthy and difficult accomplishment. At risk of repeating myself, this is really good work. Link to comment
mbrown 1 Posted August 15, 2001 What Tony said. Could you give a little more info on lens type and exposure settings. Thanks Link to comment
vuk_vuksanovic 0 Posted August 15, 2001 Albert. If you mean the background blur, I believe that was the intent: fast shutter speed and wide aperture (not to mention the context of a slow film) to freeze the motion and isolate the subject. It all works quite well for me. Link to comment
maria_s. 1 Posted August 20, 2001 is one of the Kodak Moment 'photographers' -- everything has to be in focus and in blue and red colors... Seriously, a fantastic shot -- perhaps a picture comes across bit darkish with those dark blurred greens and a navy blue sky. BTW, what were you doing there, and where is that there? Never heard of a country named Irian Jaya, it must be a place, methinks. Link to comment

think27 0 Posted September 10, 2001 Outstanding image! The colors, the shallow depth of field and the activity in this shot... What really makes it work for me is the background subjects, out of focus, looking forward, some subjects going to the right and some to the left... creating so much interesting action in the background.. yet, not distracting because they are out of focus.. providing a background story to the foreground subject. Great shot! Link to comment
samir 0 Posted September 28, 2001 Great pictures. I wish we could see more of the people' faces in the first boat. Where you standing on the ground or on a boat? Link to comment
