This photograph I took during a "prutmarathon" (Dutch event). A run

over 7,2 km where the competitors also have to wade through 72

ditches. This (very tired) competitor is just climbing out of a ditch.

This picture has a Pop Art quality to it; think it would feel right at home on the wall beside Lichtenstein, Oldenburg and Warhol.

A great photo, and there may be a good possibilty here for a strong series of photos "explaining" the race.

IMHO, the picture needs more visual context of the man's situation. Without the caption, I guessed he was playing rugby... Something as unique and interesting as plundering ditches shouldn't be left up to the viewer's imagination.

Sensational work.

 

the back fill has brought the image alive and the expression is just right. It's hard to tell if it was a posed photo given the use of the flash.

 

Either way - great shot. A very rare 9 by me

I'm sure if it were another image of slot canyon, sunset, or rodent, it would have recieved a little higher rating. It's a great shot and doesn't need anymore. We don't need to know what race/compitition, he's obviously intense and muddy. I doubt he's looking for his car keys in the backyard.

I think there's just a little too much flash here. an omni-bounce or some other sort of soft-box would soften up the flash's harshness.

Without the comment, I'm lost. He could be at a dirt eating contest for all I know. The flash is, in my opinion, overdone... looks unnatural.
