I like this but somehow can't quite make it work for me any ideas or

Well, you're certainly correct in that there is something to this photo. I think it has mainly to do with the white/red/black colors and also the abstract/architectural nature of the photo. The single power/phone line that passed is a bit of a distraction, but what's a photographer to do? Cut it down? Knock down the pole? I'd seek other opportunities around this site to see if you can scout something similar.
