Theres just not enough range from white to black. I good B&W should have a complete spectrum range from white to black, this just doesnt go all the way to white as it should. But whatever, its still a cool photo though, maybe just more contrast next time...

Hi David. You did a good job getting close, sharp, and capturing detail. In my opinion the problem is the contrast. The image overall is mostly grey without any nice crisp whites. If you can figure out how to boost your contrast when shooting you'll be more satisfied with your results. Just for illustration I did a quick adjustment in Photoshop - I just played with curves, and though far from perfect since I worked from a screenshot, I think the increased contrast makes a big difference. Thanks for the help and advice... I am working on the photo and plan to repost hopefully with a better result..
