steppenwolf 0 Posted October 23, 2007 I like the expression. Its very important to get close to the subject to take such portraits which you have done here. To make it stronger technically, the photo needs to be sharper with more DOF which you could get with a smaller aperture in these kind of photos. Specially when taking close up shots. Link to comment
steppenwolf 0 Posted October 25, 2007 Hi Nima, I know smaller apertures and slow shutters dont always work but for this shot you could take it with a tripod. Since this is your father probably you could tell him not to move for a couple of seconds and have a stronger expression of hopelessness :-). However having said that when you take time to set up shots, you lose the natural expression which is perhaps more important in this photograph. But with a decent ligthing I dont think this should take 2 sec exposure for a high DoF. My suggestion was purely technical rather than aesthetic. But to have perfect images there needs to be balance of the two and I try to keep working on both the aspects. Anyway, the reason why I commented on the sharpeness was that I see many of your photos lacks that even though they are very creative. Its not applicable only to this photograph, but I commented here since I liked this the best. I think it would really add value to your collection of some very artistic images in your profile . Hope the comments were useful. thanks Link to comment
