basscheffers 0 Posted July 9, 2002 This was taken at the Blue Mosque in Istanbul. I was waiting for the cat to look in my direction. It never did and I am glad for it, the content, relaxed look does it for me. I didn't get a chance to remove the shoes before the armed guard told me to move along as there was nothing to see there. Little did he know? Link to comment
mmmee 0 Posted April 9, 2003 I think its called shallow DOF. Is it? At any rate I love the faded out background and the sharp subject. I really like the composition, also. Its amazing how 2s or even 3s affect people's perception of any other photo. The principles of good photography get lost in the ego stroking. Should have taken the shoes off before! Love Istanbul. The glorious city. There are so many photo opportunities of all kinds of things. Link to comment
basscheffers 0 Posted April 10, 2003 Yes, it's DOF, a shallow one in this case. I believe my 50/1.8 was only at f2 or f2.8 at the time. This picture was actualy runner up in a travel photo competition last week, sounded like mainly not the winner because the shoes cut into the cat. (they did like the shoes being there, as it signifies having to take of your shoes at a mosque) Always check who you get your 2s and 3s from, usualy they are from the lesser photographers, or those who have not uploaded anything themselves. mmmee 0 Posted April 11, 2003 Congrats on the runner up. That's the real proof, I think. Thanks for the DOF info. The ratings? ah well, numbers! The bane of the existance of sites like this. Link to comment
mart 0 Posted July 3, 2003 Personally I love the things around the subject. This is a nice picture with a good focus. About your comment on my picture: When I take a night picture, there is no light in the sky when the streetlights are bright. It's impossible the shoot the picture otherwise. Martin. P.S. Work on the digital ;-) Link to comment
