kellyphillips 0 Posted October 15, 2007 Will, great DOF and detail. To be honest, I'm kind of suprised that you didn't crop out that distracting branch on the right, you are the person who taught me to scan the edges and check for distractions. =) Great shot regardless, this is quite different from what we are used to seeing from you. What lens did you use? Link to comment
will king 0 Posted October 15, 2007 Good catch Kelly. I used the 100mm f/2.8 macro with a closeup filter on a 40D. Link to comment
kellyphillips 0 Posted October 16, 2007 You have a 40D now? Wow. You still have the 5D as well? Those are the 2 cameras that I would love to have together. What do you think of the 40D? It looks pretty darn tempting to me. Link to comment
seandepuydt 2 Posted October 16, 2007 Hey Will, just as a point of reference, I attended a week long photo workshop given by Rod Planck and his opinion with most macro work was that the eyes had to be infocus. Keep in mind he is a naturalist and generally focuses on clinical shots of bugs, and all things roaming the ground. That is what I use as my first review of this type of photography. I hate things like this so I give you lots of credit for finding this thing and then getting in close. Granted we all have our own way of seeing things, but I wanted to point that out to you. - Sean Link to comment
will king 0 Posted October 16, 2007 Sean, thanks for the comment, and I completely agree. I think the focus on the eyes applies to just about any genre of photography, especially portraits. I see what you mean about the eyes on this critter not being tack sharp. Still trying to perfect my macros. Any other tips on macro photography you have would be greatly welcomed. Link to comment
