Mike Marcotte 50,671 Posted November 6, 2007 Her happiness really shows through in that picture. She looks overwhelmed with joy. Someone told her she'd done a good job. That's an awesome slice of life. Link to comment
lutz 3 Posted November 6, 2007 Thanks, Mike, you've nailed the backstory to the photo! If you like to know better about her actual performance, you're welcome to have a look at my (still unedited) album of snaps I took earlier this year.Cheers,Lutz Link to comment
Mike Marcotte 50,671 Posted November 7, 2007 I checked them out Lutz, It's interesting to me what a motion picture director finds interesting in a still. I think you have a different perspective which is useful to someone making still photographs. I'll probably look at your portfolio here differently just because of your backround. The making of movies have always been interesting to me. I have a nephew who attened a school for cinema & his still photographs are a little more interesting also. Some of your pictures look as if they're one frame taken out of the film. Link to comment
lutz 3 Posted November 8, 2007 Thanks for your comment. Hmm, I guess what I'm instinctively reacting to (or looking for) in stills is storytelling (condensing a situation in one frame), drama (capturing tension, conflict between the elements in a picture) and mystery. Thanks for challenging me to reflect on this... :-)BTW, how is your B&W printing doing? Did you set up a darkroom, ultimately? Link to comment
Mike Marcotte 50,671 Posted November 8, 2007 Nah, My darkroom is still on hold. I'm still in the kitchen. & the closet, but thanks for asking. Link to comment
