Nice idea Pete. It must have been a tad dewy that morning, I hope you've got lots of waterproofing on the fly:) I like the way you set this shot up with the lightest and darkest corner diametrically apposed. A nice experiment with tonal gradient. The entire image looks a bit washed as if you did not use a lens hood or light was still passing across at a poor angle. The image also looks a bit oof perhaps from lens flare or maybe camera motion. This is a challenging shooting situation to tackle but this is a strong enough idea to warrant further investigation for sure. I enjoy dropping by your page regularly since I am always intrigued by what new images I find. You are constantly setting off on some new and challenging photographic adventure.

Hi Gordon.

Thanks for the thoughts on this one. We stayed bone dry in the tent, even the following three nights when it rained very heavily (nice August summer holiday!).

You're spot on about there being some lens flare - it actually hit the lens on the lower right edge and I had to crop the image a bit, but as you point out, it has washed the image somewhat. I have a few others that I took at the same time. A couple there was no problem with flare, but I wasn't so happy with the composition. That said, I never used to crop photos to improve composition - mainly because it used to feel like cheating and also I couldn't be bothered - but now I don't mind so much making small crops. I'll check the others again and see if they can be made stronger.

Thanks again - you're always a great help.

Pete
