Actually noticed the flare right away and really liked - Was wondering if it was deliberate (think it was???)

It was that is why the previous comment freaked me out. When I got the course in the uk I was told flare is considered hip these days...

There's lots of instances where I like flare too. This reminds me of an old 50's photo and I don't mind the flare although I would have preferred just a tad more brightness on the face. But overall, I like it and I like the light. Although I do favour your recent hi-key works. (this girl reminds me of Twiggy with longer hair)

Cheers Jan, Its a real pity we only got started with this type of shot and a security guard moved us becuse we didn't nave a permit. So I only got off about 4 or 5 shots. I didn't even have a chance to reposition anything from my first setup....

i'd probably ignore whatever's considered 'hip' these days since chances are it'll just leave you looking like everyone else.

i thought it may have been unintentional since it doesn't seem very strong, it just casts a faint off-colour and less contrasty look as opposed to having a big ring of flare. i find if you're going to do something that is uncommon and an unorthodox method in any art form it's best to use it very boldly. it can make what might be perceived as a mistake very confident and interesting.

it's mainly the warmer area in the bottom left that i believe is caused by the lens flare which bothers me. i want to be drawn into the eyes as the focal point but that warm area advances and pulls my eye down towards it creating an awkard conflict.

aside from that i actually quite like the image and in a different context it would maybe work a lot stronger for me (ie. in print, with a series of other images, etc).

A fine image. Because of the previous comments, I took an extra long look. I honestly can't find anything I would consider unintentional. Regards...

This image is very much to my taste because I'm a light and color freak. I think the light suits her features and touches her beautiful hair perfectly. Great expression which suggests her mind is far away. For me, the only negative is the background top left, fixable if you want. Great shot, and get her back!

Don't want to start an argument on your page, but I would say that background top left is distracting from her beautiful and seductive face because it's so close and because it contributes little to the overall feel. Not saying you should get rid of it completely, just make it less prominent. One man's opinion, and the photographer's is the only one that counts!

Roger and Nathan,

This is why I love photography...No one is ever right and no one is ever wrong. Thanks to all the comments on this one. The model LOVES it so I guess that is the important thing..

GEr..

If you adjust the contrast I think the smoke will go down a it. I do like how it highlights her hair. I like how it works but sometimes it can really adjust the bad parts on a photo like the noiseandthe sharpness. You might want to consider making sure the eyes are not part of the flair and see what happens then. Play with it some.

have you tried this picture in B&W?

BTW her EYES are gorgeous. I love the shirt too.
