miles_hecker 0 Posted July 9, 2002 Cartier-Bresson couldn't do any better! Well done.. Link to comment
kkeller 0 Posted July 9, 2002 Once again, outstanding. Love the tones and bokeh. Has a very silvery, sculpted look. Link to comment
melchi_manoah_michel 0 Posted July 10, 2002 What happened to the other two points? This is perhaps the best photograph on this site. My heart was broken when I tried to view it last month and could not find it. Did you temporarily remove it? Anyway, I'm glad it's back; if any image on photo.net deserves double 10's, this is it. Uhooru 2,207 Posted July 11, 2002 Looks like a Eugene Smith in use of the strong lighting. How did you do it? Bleach the lights after printing? You are de man! Link to comment
jodie coston 0 Posted July 11, 2002 I agree that it's one of the best on the site. It's been a favorite of mine for some time. I'm glad to have been reminded of it by seeing it again! Link to comment
alex_taylor 0 Posted July 11, 2002 Absolutely beautiful! Great contrast and sharpness, there's a real intimidating mood to this picture. Instant favourite. Looking at the larger version, I think the scan of this photo could be a lot better, though. Or maybe it's the JPEG compression, but I see a few banding marks on the edges. Link to comment
julio_rodriguez 0 Posted July 21, 2002 This definately has to be one of my favorite people pictures on the site. The sense of suspense is unrivaled. I would like to know what lens was used for this picture. Keep up the great work! Link to comment
olliesteiner 0 Posted August 2, 2002 This is spectacular. Looks like a great painting! Bravissimo!!!-Ollie Steiner Link to comment
andrew_mcgrath1 0 Posted October 22, 2002 In the spirit of democracy, allow me to cast a vote for this as photonet's top image. Your economical use of light and detail, DoF choice, and masterful developing/printing are spot on. Of course, these are observations and opinions that only come well after the fact of viewing, because the simple pleasure of enjoying the view is what comes first. Link to comment
lou korell 0 Posted January 22, 2003 I agree with the comments about this image being the best on this site. There are many other fantastic images but this one has the look of "classic". If you inserted it in the portfolio of any of the great masters, it would look like it belonged there. Nothing against all of the great digital images on this site, but to me, this is the photography that inspires us all to make pictures. Thanks for submitting your work on this site. Link to comment
g1 0 Posted June 24, 2003 I can't critique this photo as I feel I have absolutely nothing to suggest or contribute. I just really like everything about it; the light which seems to sculpt around the edges of the forms, the gaze, the curiosity about the task which he is focussed on... the detailed texture in the skin, the out of focus spectator behind.... what don't I like? g1 0 Posted June 28, 2003 ....ok I'm back. I would like less brightness on the foreheads of both men! Link to comment
gsbhasin 0 Posted August 3, 2003 Beautiful photograph. Something that looks as if it came from the movie "The Godfather".I would nominate it for POW if I could. Havent seen a portrait of this caliber on photo.net Link to comment

k_basu 0 Posted February 17, 2005 I am very surprised that this picture was never chosen POW. massive! Link to comment
mikeseb 0 Posted February 18, 2005 You have a fabulous portfolio. The children's pictures are reminiscent of Lewis Hine; and someone else here stole my words re W. Eugene Smith: the use of shadow and light to direct the attention, deeply textured and rich tonal range. Outstanding. Your comments on my portfolio appreciated. mike sebastian Link to comment
