younes 0 Posted September 25, 2007 Taken in Moraine lake near lake Louise. I went to this location 4 straight days at sunrise and was constantly rewarded with bland, gray weather. This particular day started no differently, in fact it was even worse: I couldn't see 10 feet a head of me! As I started to leave, the clouds finally lifted for a brief moment (about 15 min in all), and while everyone was busy shooting the lake, I turned around to see this magnificent silhouette. david brown 0 Posted September 25, 2007 Terrific shot, the rockies can be a challenge. Really nice to see a different perspective to this location instead of the usual postcard shots which even I took when I was there. Very well done. Link to comment
iancoxleigh 0 Posted September 25, 2007 What a great shot! The detail and colour in the lichens on the facing side of the racks is perfect. The colours here are so well balanced and harmonious as well -- the blue/turquoise of the water and the pink of the sunlit mist is spot-on. Further, the fact that you can see into the blue water and follow the line of the rocks is so nice. My only concern is with the tree being double segmented. I would have liked it being cut only once by the rocks. But, I think that would have required standing fully in the water and would have increased the area with the sun's brightness too. lonebearimages 0 Posted September 25, 2007 A real tone-poem here, Younes. Excellent composition and exposure, really evokes a moody feeling. Superb work, my friend! A 6/6 anonymously. Cheers! Chris Link to comment
younes 0 Posted September 28, 2007 Thank you everyone for your input, it is highly appreciated. Ian, I know what you mean with the tree, but I already had a foot in the water at that point and couldn't get much further (in fact I was to slip in the water a few seconds later :-D). In addition, changeing the angle wouldn't have allowed me to keep the rock in that particular placement. Also, to be frank with you, the conditions were changing so fast that I could only react and this is what I got (this happens to be my favourite shot of my trip so far...despite the lower ratings it got). forrest_andrew 0 Posted November 14, 2007 kudos to you! by turning your back to the classic view you've come away with an original take from this location. i do love this shot. the subtleties are fantastic - from the deep aqua of the lake, the deep orange of the lichen, the hint of purple in the cloud wisps and the touch of the spruce. my only suggestion might be to crop this to eliminate the triangle of light at the bottom of the frame. looking at all your pics from the mountain parks has me salivating to get back out there. maybe next weekend, hmmm.... Jim_Dockery_Photos 2 Posted January 8, 2009 Andrew got it. I've been there, and even have a picture from almost the same spot, but you took advantage of conditions to capture a truly unique shot. Link to comment
