I can't seem to get the colors to look right when I convert this to

sRGB. Regardless, I'm curious what people think about cropping out

the burned out sky on the right. Is it too distracting? Any other

comments/suggestions would be welcome as well. Thanks!

I'm no pro, but I definitely wouldn't crop it, I think the color balances out the warm tones on the left. Beautiful shot, by the way!!

Wonderful shot! I guess I am in the minority here but feel that cropping would be helpful. In fact, maybe a square crop would be in order. I have attached such a crop for your assessment. Cheers , J

I'm with J. Perez. I think the rocks, sand, and low clouds were sufficient for a composition, and probably do better without the partial sunset and blown-out sky. The crop provides a more unified image.

Beautiful colors here. You need to straighten out the horizon - the lean is pretty obvious. You will be forced to crop after you rotate it, but I don't see a need to crop significantly on the right.

Thank you all for your comments. I was so concerned with the colors and the blown-out sky that I forgot to correct the horizon line. Thank you all again, I really appreciate the feedback, particularly when it is so helpful.

The tilt is very obvious and very fine because it seems intentional as if the burnt out sky is the defining horizon that matters. Very creative and bold. As for cropping the picture, do not dare do that please. People will say that blown out values are bad. In the case above it defines the picture, gives it its power. Without it, it's just a commom picture of a rock and a star fish...Who cares about that?. Try to look straight at the sun and see if your eye sensors do not blow up. That's reality. HDR is great but sometimes too fake. I love your picture exactly the way it is and I apologize with those who want to change it. It's perfect just like that, changing it takes away from it.

Pascal, there are often multiple images within a single photograph, and they are brought out by different crops. Different people have different tastes, and I appreciate what people point out to me regarding cropping possibilities (I just finished thanking two viewers for a suggested crop on a recently posted photo, and it's a crop that I would not have thought of if not for their comments). So, no need for you to apologize for my comment here; Jason can take it or leave it; I only hope that he thinks about it.
