I took this shot this morning during my first attempt to use my new

waterproof housing in real waves. The surf was small and not very

good but I came away with a few nice images. Please view larger.

Thanks for your comments.

what can i say. it is an astounding picture. i love the cubistic breakdown on the left contrasted by the impressionist right. it all comes together in the eye... fascinating picture

Incredible, blue sky on the left, green water on the right. For me this image looks like fractured glass, go figure. Since therre is so little scale it is hard to imagine just what size the wave is and to me it does not matter. Keep shooting.

Great timing, indeed! Diagonally splitted colours look also excellent. Lively, round shape is simple and really effective. Now, I can see something on the other side of wave or "tunnel". If I only could figure out, what it is... :) No ratings. a s l a

Thanks everyone for all the kind comments and high ratings! Looks like this image is sitting number one on Top Photos right now. That is kind of cool, although I know that a good part of that is just luck that this image seems to have escaped the dreaded 3/3 Trolls (damn them). Also there is probably a "wow" factor for people who have never seen this kind of "inside the tube" shot before. Believe me there are some amazing surf photographers out there.

Anyway, I am pretty happy that I managed to get an image like this during my first try at water photography in, oh, about 33 years. It has been a dream of mine to get a surf housing for a good camera and it finally happened. I still need to work my way into bigger surf. I have seen some spectacular shots taken at this place at sunrise so that is definitely on the agenda. As far as what that is out there on the horizon at the end of the tube, if you look at the photo I have posted in my waves gallery called "Looking Through" you can see the beach park in the background. It's probably a bush. Once again, thanks and aloha. Chuck
