skyjammer 0 Posted September 21, 2007 The perspective makes this simple shot a winner. Excellent composing here, buddy. Regards, -Ade Link to comment
rogerleekam 0 Posted September 21, 2007 A stark and elemental composition, Jeff. The radiating orientation of the stems makes it. Link to comment

kirk d 0 Posted September 21, 2007 Pretty cool Jeff, looks like a gallery print to me! When I saw the thumbnail, I thought it was a pic of water reeds rising out of an early morning mist/fog, instead it is something similar but entirely different. I like when something is what it is but looks like something else. As twigs coming out of snow, it is equally as good; you achieved what you intended with the snow a-glow and the weird colors (around the stem bases?), that you said you were uncertain of, really introduce the unusual factor into it. Also, that bluish-green makes you wonder if it is an exotic chemical under the snow that is making everything glow as it is cracking through its frozen cocoon. Kirk Link to comment
mark_q 0 Posted September 21, 2007 The tint of the snow makes this view so special, worth a revisit. I see here two pairs of stems creating an arc across the the frame, but brutally interrupted in the middle, only that trace on snow trying to fool the viewer by connecting false pair. Kinda follow-the-right-path-test, so to say... Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted September 21, 2007 Ade: Glad you like this one. Roger: This was an experiment doing close-ups with a wide angle lens. The distortion ended up to be interesting. I like your description. David: Not two minutes after this shot, a pigeon stole my camera...... Laurent: This is a little eccentric. Since you have a similar off-beat point of view, I appreciate your thoughts a lot. Kirk: So, I guess you shouldn't dump your anti-freeze out onto the snow... Actually, this was an experiment in toning. The snow was brilliant white (but boring). Markku: I never took notice of the compositional elements that you noticed. That proves why it's a good reason to post. Other eyes are sometimes more skilled than your own. Link to comment
