dseltzer 0 Posted September 17, 2007 Please look and comment/critique - I like doing close-in work, but Iknow I have much to learn technically and about composition. So, I'mreally interested in whatever you might suggest to make this kind ofshot better. Thanks! Link to comment
kenlassen 0 Posted September 18, 2007 Following the rule of thirds I would crop with the bee a bit more to the left and up slightly. The DOF should be more shallow as the background has too much detail and distracts from the subject; go with a wider aperature and faster shutter. The dark green directly behind the bee keeps the bee from "popping out" and instead the bee blends in (next time tell the bee to move where there is a lighter background). The sun appears to have been harsh and directly overhead as the side and underside of the bee are not well lit/exposed (wait for better light). Lastly, lens permitting, get a little closer. You have a number of pics in your portfolio that demonstrate the above changes. Oh and thanks for the comment on my Hummingbird!
