great picture. All the elements are there...from the foreground to mid to back. Noticed that it looks like the sky was burnt on the right which helps balance the visual weight with the left side of the bridge.

I would have to respectfully disagree with John. I think the compositional elements come together very nicely to create a memorable image. The texture on the chain is outstanding. Great Shot!

I think John has a good point. It's hard to visualize this without the spray, but, once done, it does become a stronger image, I agree. Together, the three elements work somewhat, I think, but take away the one and the other two become stronger. Remove the spray, for instance, and the chain and the bridge draw against each other very well. Take away the bridge, and the chain and the spray play against each other. Taking away the chain would be pointless: it's the basis of the shot.

As it is, it's still a good shot. It has lots of zig zag lines and they intersect at all the right places. A more formal arrangment would be obtained by cropping in on the right side to remove the bright bit of sky between the chain edge and the bay. Maybe not a better picture, but a more formal, and simpler, composition. In the end, it's that chain right up in your face that grabs you.

very nice. static and dynamic elements. very old and used elements (chain) and newborn elements (spray). just perfect! the only thing to complain is the text in the lower left edge...

I have been to the exact same spot several times, and have several shots of the chain with the bridge as a backdrop, but none of them even comes close to this shot. Nice vision, and flawless execution!
