wonder why someone would put 'This is not a photo opportunity' on a garbage bin?

quite funny really

Was this text really on the can, or did you add it? The can is round. The text goes more than 1/2 way towards the edges in each direction. The text should also have a curvature, should it not? The top and bottom of the can are clearly curved. Even if the camera height was exactly to match the height of the text (thereby masking any curvature), wouldn't the text show some warping, and be a tiny bit thinner as the eye goes farther from the center? Next time, remember to match the text to the object. ;-)

No it's not digitally enhanced. It is in front of the Tate Modern in London. There are a few of these epithets around London for some reason. If you do a google search for "this is not a photo opportunity" (use the quotes) you'll find in the 4 pages of hits a handful of people who have commented on similar stencils. Remember to check your facts before making assumptions. ;-)

How or even why in the heck would I look up something like text written on a garbage can? How would I know where it really is, you could say it's anywhere, and even if it was there, it could be someplace I never went to, and probably never will, nor care to. It looks so fake! That's all I care about. Some of your other photos were nicer. If these cans are all the rage, why not do an entire folder dedicated to them? ;-)

I think I found the guy who did it. I found this url on google: http://www.banksy.co.uk/pressthelist.html if you do a search on google as I mentioned you'll find other anecdotes from people who've seen these. I've only seen the one, on the way out from the Tate Modern. Do you always go around making someone PROVE they've taken a photo. Some of us don't lie, and I for one will mention if I've digitally altered something. What a sad side-effect of the digital era where some people cannot believe anything.

I agree a visual tour de force it is not, but I like light visual humour hence the otherwise-mediocre shots of this rubbish bin, the snail and curdled cream.

Don't worry about Warp Nine, it's obviously someone with an ax to grind against you personally. They created the account on the day they commented, commented again the following day, and have never contributed anything else since. Never commented on anyones image but this one. Too bad they don't want to be a productive member of the community.
