andrea allison 0 Posted September 19, 2007 Wonderful capture Jeff! Puts a BIG smile on my face. A most interesting buildingto gaze and ponder. Not so sure if I would grab my lawn chair though. lol.For sure the couple makes for a great composition. They look so relaxed!!! Kind Regards Andrea :) Link to comment
human images 4 Posted September 2, 2009 I missed this one somehow – and quite a unique image it is! I’m also amazed at the parallels with one of my own. The sense of it is quite different but the framing of the two couples relaxing in their lawn chairs as if spectators to the external world, is extraordinarily similar. Check it out. - http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=7474612 . Link to comment
mbh 0 Posted December 4, 2009 This definitely gives us the impression that this couple gazes across at the derelict building. With the man's grey and balding hair, I feel an amused duality between him as part of this couple and the building. On one hand, I see this as a funny, almost comical image, but I can't help feel something philosophical is said here. In any case, I could see this as part of a hip ad campaign, maybe a riff on those ads where a middle aged couple sits in bathtubs and feels romantic while looking out on some seascape. Nicely done. jeffl7 0 Posted December 5, 2009 The funny thing is that this couple was not looking at the building at all, but was looking at the brilliant scenery over the canal just to the right of the building. But being the stealthy, deceptive photo-hound that I am, I sneaked up and staged the shot. Anyhow, this is an old shot that I would probably handle much differently these days, but still brings a chuckle when I look at it. Thanks for your philosophical review. Lawnchairs have an existential bent to them. Link to comment
trisha jean-angela 5 Posted January 2, 2010 This is an excellent shot and one that I find rather sad; to think people in this stage of life are trying for a moment of peace and relaxation (or perhaps bored out of their minds?) have nothing better to view, or nowhere better to be makes me sad. I guess it is all in where you find beauty and interest, but at that stage in my life, I hope to have the freedom to travel and spend my time taking in the beauty of this world with a loved one...we can all hope and dream, I guess. Thanks for sharing. :) Link to comment
