lunarlight 0 Posted September 8, 2007 The use of selective focus is a little over done here. The edges go too fuzy. Actually, the photo is really just in the bottom third of this frame. That would give you the color and tonal contrast with a nice composition. Get in closer to the things that interest you. Link to comment
cnelson1 0 Posted September 8, 2007 I haven't seen much shot with a Lensbaby so this photo interests me. The lilly pads at the top don't contribute to the rest of this photo really. They could easily go away. I however, do like the strange effect given by the selective focus. It's different, a departure from the "usual flower photos". That's my opinion at least. Link to comment
barclayphoto 0 Posted September 8, 2007 Thank you for your feedback Kit and Chad... I did do some work closer up, however, with water lily's it is difficult with a lensbaby (essentially a 50mm lens) to get close! None the less I liked this composition as I felt it framed the sharp subject... I guess one could argue that it is material that is not needed or even necessary but I'm not convinced... My eye does not spend much time at the top but rather with the color and sharp area... so for me the extra information acts as a background a pallette if you will for the subject.. None the less I appreciate your perspective! Thanks! Link to comment
