Lightning from Picacho Peak State Park

millerjeremyr

Stopped at Picacho Peak after driving through a strong monsoon this evening. The storm had passed but was putting on a good show as the sun was setting. I only had my camera with me. No tripod. I took this with the camera propped up on my tailgate. 15 second exposure at f5.6....and standing very still, to say the least.

Please view "Larger". This was a 15 sec. exposure without my tripod,

only propped on my tailgate. Any comments or critiques would be

appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeremy

I dunno about you but your tailgate takes a very impressive shot...lol j/k

Very impressive. The varity of colours makes this uncroppable. 7's from me.

Its so cool to critique someone else named Jeremy!! LOL! Filming lightning has become my most favorite thing to photograph! I would be honored to have this one in folio! Very well done! the Depth of colors in this comp. is simply outstanding! From the darkest, deepest blue that Ive ever seen to the amazing redish orange! simply AWESOME!

Do you use an electronic trigger or is this just a trial & error process? Also, thanks for your very kind words on my portfolio.

Thanks to all who have commented on this photo. I have never used an electronic trigger (I wonder if they actually work?), so it most definitely is trial and error. Thank god for digital, cause trying to catch lightning on film can be expensive!
