gerfoy3 0 Posted August 29, 2007 Fred if you come across this I left the details of the hair on her right so we can see something in the darkness but I wanted that darkness as it matched her mood. Ger.. Link to comment
dee 14 0 Posted August 31, 2007 HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! A pre-emptive comment on Fred! I love it!!! LOL! Wow, she really does look upset, and the darkness and high contrast help bring that out (IMHO) If you look real close, you can even see the seperation between eye colour and pupil as well. Nice one as useual Ger! Link to comment
gerfoy3 0 Posted August 31, 2007 Cheers Darren....I thought it might lack a little separation in the shadows for Fred so I wanted him to know I considered it and have in mind his points. Yea she wanted sweets....not until I get a photo....Uhhh that a horrible photo....she said... Ger.. Link to comment

gerfoy3 0 Posted September 3, 2007 Well that was what the face was about...she wanted sweets so I bribed her and she was not impressed, she has no patience like her mother...Ha...then when she saw the picture and the face she had she stopped focusing on the prize and more on the task in hand... Guest Guest Posted September 3, 2007 I guess since I'm being pre-empted (LOL) my job is done. Not! Seriously, I would call this heavy-handed contrast, not simply high contrast. This is strong and harsh (to me, different from high contrast), especially for such a sweet face. This innocent beauty with such fetching and wide eyes seems to be crying out for more delicacy (at the same time she's saying "leave me the f__k alone"), even within the distinct and dark statement you want to make. Not sure her hair needs to feel so unhairlike (it just screams photoshop level adjustment and emits a feel of metal) to create genuine contrast. Also not sure the shadows have to be so dense and heavy to provide that dark, moody expression. Your subject and goal make me think of the photo below (unfortunately, I don't know the photographer), which I have loved for a long time. By the way, thanks for finding my self portrait. I appreciate your comments. May be narcicism, which I never felt prone to, but it has stayed one of my favorites. It was the first success with my new 30D, back in January. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted September 3, 2007 This would seem to me along the lines of what you were intending, but a little more genteel and nuanced. Link to comment
