puck 0 Posted August 17, 2007 the depth of field, focus and wonderful skintones make this a pleasure to look at. something very classical about it too.. Link to comment
tallman610 0 Posted August 17, 2007 I have been trying to think of how photographs of nude bodies need to evolve to get beyond the repetition of past themes but until this photograph I thought it was pretty much a dead style. Your photo gives me hope that nudes can glorify the body, show an innate sexuality without pandering and still be about visual form. I hope there will be more in this vein. Thank you for sharing the photo. Link to comment
theoengell 0 Posted August 18, 2007 I would call it a very nice implementation of Bitesnich's picture ("ANTHONY & SINA, VIENNA 1995"). The light on the backdrop is a little bit off-center, though :) Link to comment
tallman610 0 Posted August 19, 2007 If "Vienna, 1995" is an accurate date, this is in fact a copy of the pose and most of the lighting. What a shame. I will admit to liking the softness of the bodies more than the oiled physiques of the earlier photo. How about a response from the photographer? Link to comment
allen_r1 0 Posted August 20, 2007 I agree that this is a nice photo. I also noted the misplaced light on the backdrop. There is also something about the proportions of the female model that bothers me. Nice idea though (plagerized or not). Link to comment
bluphoto 0 Posted August 23, 2007 I love this pose, and agree that it was probably inspired by Bitesnich. I would very much like to try to emulate something like this myself although I asked myself the same question a few months ago on this very site (PN Forum Posting "Are Poses Copyrighted" [http://photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00KYcb]). The general concensus was that poses are NOT "copyrightable" and I can see why - if someone takes a photo of a person standing in a doorway, does that mean that no-one else can - that'd be silly. If Danny had wanted to maliciously pass off the work of Bitesnich as his own then it would have been far easier and cheaper simply to download or scan the image from the book. The fact that Danny took the time and expense to emulate this distinctive pose serves only to pay homage to Bitesnich, and to teach him some great lighting techniques. I wish I had got round to doing it too! I have to say that the shot is very well executed, although Bitesnich probably had a lot more resources to hand! The background spot is off center, but I think that was probably intentional. If it were central then the area under the male models left arm would be too bright and would detract from the image - Go on Danny let us see some more "inspired" shots. I also love Karels work - in fact I have one of his dance nudes as my desktop wallpaper. It saddens me to know that some people view "emulating the masters" as plagiarism and in no way does my desire to emulate the work of both Karel and Bitesnich constitute a lack of respect to either party. best regards, Guy Carnegie Link to comment
dannysternol 0 Posted August 25, 2007 first of all, my english is not the best but i hope you understand me. The photo was the idea of the couple you can see on it. They come to me with a print of an belgium Photographer with this pose in a white room. I would shoot this pose with more dramatic and a darker light. I have now googled the Photo "vienna 1995" and was shocked. I think i had created a very good copy of a picture without to know how looks the original. It was not my wish to copy someones work.
