alan p 0 Posted August 16, 2007 Does this work, in your opinion? I wanted a bit more of an abstract feel to my original colour shot. Link to comment
tom_appel 0 Posted August 16, 2007 It works very well. The reflection on the bench seems a continuation of the sun's corona. This is a great shot. Link to comment
m. hummel 0 Posted August 16, 2007 I agree. The perspective on the bench is great. Excellent shot! Link to comment
gphoto 0 Posted August 16, 2007 Fantastic shot, love the circle reflection on the benches, great eye! Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted August 16, 2007 Clean, crisp composition and exposure. Excellent B&W conversion. Love the lead-in along the slats and the reflection, and the centering of the sun in the upper left quadrant is brilliant (no pun intended). Superb work, Alan, very artistic! A 7/7 anon. Cheers! Guest Guest Posted August 16, 2007 Excellent composition. The lines of the bench literally draw the viewer's attention into the image. Good use of the 'rules of thirds' too. Works excellent in B&W. One to frame in! Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 292 Posted August 16, 2007 The B&W is fit, the different framing is better and...that's it! PDE Link to comment
florianabarbu 0 Posted August 17, 2007 Original and beautiful work with light and lines. I like the composition. Link to comment
gcanyon 0 Posted August 18, 2007 Alan...you have succeeded in taking an ordinary scene, one that we see every day, and converting it to something very special. Great artistic eye. When I squint at this photo, the circular reflection of the sun really jumps out against the straight lines of the bench and railing. I much prefer this over the color version -- the color version conveys too much information for this beautiful geometric image. Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted August 20, 2007 This is very well seen and captured, original and aesthetic shot. I would prefer a very slight crop RHS, until the next bar crosses the LR corner. Then, you place the light circle perfecly centered and have better radial lines IMO Link to comment
richard thompson www.fotoz 0 Posted August 21, 2007 Very original shot. You have a keen eye.... 7 for originality, 6 for asthetics. Link to comment
marlee_k 0 Posted May 27, 2009 I like all three examples of this shot that you have in your portfolio. Excellant composition. 7/7 Link to comment
darin_schaffer 0 Posted December 23, 2009 Alan, I don't critique much, in fact this is my first but your photo really made me want to comment. I love the contrast between the silouetted horizontal and vertical lines against the shimmering diagonal lines of the bench. The reflection on the bench adds nice balance to the sun and its reflection in the water. You've taken very crisp hard lines and made them soothing. Thanks for a great photo. Link to comment
