Lovely and artistic composition in black and white. The contrast and use of light is fantastic. I can see this framed and in the CEO's office.

Thanks ken. I've had these old keys for probably 40 plus years. They belonged to my grandfather who use to rent out houses. db

It is a great document of the past. Great composition, contrast, and lightning. Best regards, Torfinn.

forgive the coming pun--- super low key shot. this has a quality similiar to old Tri-X film. excellent selection of surface to shoot on adding nice grainy structure (and despite what some digital purists believe, grain can be a GOOD thing.) i like how one key is clear and seperate and the rest are a jumble much like the way memories are. ciao, J.K.

I placed these on an old off white chest of drawer. Then I kind of dropped the keys, moved them a little and moved the separate one out away from the others. I actually had thought about this shot for several weeks. I write ideas down and eventually if I do one and it works great. db

Lovely use of grain. The dark keyes evoke dark memories. Great idea to write down your thoughts and plan out your shots. A game-plan would certainly improve my photographic life.

This photograph evokes memories of visiting my grandmother on her farm, where her closest neighbor lived a distance away, the door was locked with one of these. I think of warm fires, beautiful black walnut trees, books read on the couch, stories of her neighbor's parents riding to school on horseback. The keys evoke nostalgia for catching fireflies and playing croquet. I guess because they don't really lock anything well, they bring images of safety and harmony in the neighborhood. But that's probably a myth. I like the composition, the lighting, tones, and the framing for this charming photograph of symbols. I guess politicians like Bob Dole could have used this to sell their slogans referring to life in a different time.... Sort of like keys that open the doors to fairy tales, I guess....

Daniel, each of us have old keys that are memories of places we lived, owned etc.

I like the way you have composed it. The subdued light illuminates them, and they are like memories, deep in our subconscious.

a photo that evoks feelings and esprcially personal memories. very well done.
