Angie, this is exquisite...

Although it's a very intimate image, your shadows mask her body just so the image is tasteful, romantic and beautiful. Wonderful photo!

Great photo Angie. If at all possible, removing the left hand and the slight scar on her belly would, IMHO, make a superb shot.

Thanks for the great suggestions. In this case, the model is a stunning beauty with as perfect a body as one could imagine. The little line on her belly is doubtlessly an impression from her clothing. Overlooking it was an amateur mistake on my part.

It is unusual achievement to capture the (right) hand with such delicacy to match the rest of the body.

I agree with David - with some simple PS work the left hand could be cropped (and the indented skin hidden)without affecting the beautiful intimacy of the rest of the composition.

... like this. I hope you don't mind me making the mod. I shall delete it in a few days unless you would like it left up for discussion.

Best wishes, Jonathan

Thanks for the visual. Please don't delete it. It definitely adds to the discussion. I appreciate your contribution!

Forgive me for analyzing my own photo, but I've actually thought a bit about that left hand. I have to respectfully disagree that removing it improves the composition. I find the image unballanced and somewhat unnatural without it. We actually took some photos with the left hand out of the frame, and I selected the one with the hand on purpose.

I'm intrigued by the way that the left leg is hidden in shadow and only made "present" by the position of the hand.

I do agree regarding the line on the belly. Amateur boo-boo on my part. I did a very delicate, very precise retouching of that line before delivering the photo to the model. Thanks.

Removing the left hand takes away a lot from the picture. It completely throws off the balance of light and dark which was achieved magnifecently in this photo. Again as Angie stated it also shifts the focus of the picture too far out of center.

its beautiful work really, i must congratulate you on another piece well done.

Angie, This shot is composed very well. At first glance, I thought the same things about removing the hand, but once it was done by Jonathon I too believe it needs to be there. Possibly just a lit bit back so the fingertips were just a bit more visible, but then again I would probably need to see it. I am glad I stumbled onto your port on photo.net since you are not longer on the other site. Take care.

Another interesting presentation, thank you for sharing. It's great to read all the feedback you get. It helps me with my own work and makes me want to get my camera out and shoot some! Thank you for the inspiration.

I agree that the balance of the composition is better in the original - it is just that her left hand somehow doesn't match the delicacy of the right (though it's not bad). I wonder if you tried any other positions of her left hand where the fingers are not seen end-on?

Anyway I'm glad this fine shot is getting the attention it deserves.

Best wishes, Jonathan

A beautifully executed image Angie. The left hand holds the the eye in the image and adds balance to the right hand.

Angie,

The left hand adds dynamics - but detracts from the poetry. Two different images. As an artist, I prefer the image without the left hand. Regardless, the image is very special. The soft shadow light, low key, and depth of field all make the composition work. More importantly, you are to be congratulated for your bravery and ability to pull off a very erotic image without any vulgarity. A very tough thing to do. And of course, emotion is the one thing that separates the good from the bad and the ugly! For a beginning photographer you show outstanding natural talent. Keep cranking!
