Sunset Haze

I'm very thankful and humbled by the outstanding ratings and reviews this shot has received thus far! To be honest, I didn't expect it to fair well because it posts very, very poorly with regard to sharpness. At least on my monitor, the compressed version has poor sharpness. This is a product of my poor post-processing--the original is tack sharp. (the bridge does fade into the "haze" but the first tower is dead on in the original)

 

I have had some success shooting on days like this. I have a couple lighthouse shots with a similar background. All were taken on very, very cloudy days. There is not a whole lot of color in the sky by with a very long exposure, the color really gets brought out nicely. Furthermore, some ND grads stacked really make it pop out even more. I also think the artificial lighting enhances the background color in this shot. Although this is not a photoshop creation and is "as was taken" out of the camera, I wondered if it look realistic. (sometimes I find the best shots are the ones that really are real but you have to ask yourself, is this really real or a digital creation?) I do appreciate the positive feedback. It goes to prove to me once again that just because all you can see is a bright spot behind a ton of foggy clouds as the sun sets that there is still reason to pull out your camera and give it a go. I'm enjoying finding ways to capture good shots even when you don't have a breathtaking, classic, colorful sunrise/set.

another beautiful bridge shot Tyler. the flat sky really makes the bridge stand out as the subject for me. the mix of yellow and white light on the structure are a good mix. i think you could shave a little off the top and get more of a panoramic effect to make the bridge even more dynamic. take care my friend, J.K.
