I think this would be a lot nicer if the car wasn't in the middle of the image. What about cropping out some of that space on the left side?

Good racing photography is technically difficult, made even more so for the amateur who has to work with greater distance from the action and the ever present catch fencing and guard rails. Photographing racing at night, as you have here, makes life even more difficult. Within the limitations imposed this is, IMHO, a very good effort and, as someone who photographs racing on a regular basis, it was also very instructive for my own efforts.
