Courtship

I've had this idea for a few months, and finally got the shot tonight.

It's still not exactly what I wanted, but as difficult as it was, I'm

keeping it. I only have one hummingbird around, so it took some

patience. Other than normal post-processing, it's totally unmanipulated.

Awesome!!!! The bird was attracted to colorful Barbie, how friging clever is that!!! The green backround color is amazing and really lends itself to the shot!! Quite an idea and perfectly executed! Patience is a virtue!!

Thanks everybody. Alin, the sun is to the right, although mostly behind a tree on this shot. The background is my lawn and the different shades are the result of trees blocking some rays. I have two flashes sitting 2-3 feet in front of the setup.

Gentlemen may prefer blondes, but this fella STILL goes for the nectar.

This IS awesome. I love the pose, lighting and interaction between the Barbie toy and the real bird. What did you do to get the hummingbird to get that close to the flower? Is the flower real or fake? and did you put something on the flower, like sugar water?

Janice - I just placed the setup by the feeder.  Flower is real with nothing added to it.
