The sepia, DOF (putting the couple out of it) and the tracks give this a strong metaphorical feeling that it's about reflection on life, though I think I haven't quite got what you were thinking Jenny, as the child is a little young to be reminiscing (though that could be one stop on the way from out viewpoint), I'm not sure how the angle helps (though it does increase the drama )

So plenty to think about here, well done,

as an aside I'm glad that the tracks look like they haven't seen a train down them for some time as the strongest feeling I get is tension (namely that if a train were to come I'd have to sprint and retrieve the child before I could get to safety )

Cheers Ian

It's nice but I found it a bit too creative, that is, too many elements thrown in to give a strong impact. There is a language inherent in each of your compositional elements but it is hard to understand what you are saying.

Sepia can denote vintage, or reminiscence, past, etc. Tracks can mean the passage of time or travel or tie a spacial relationship to background and foreground. Pepole on tracks can mean risk, travel, danger, etc. Then there is the pregnancy which can mean beginnings, family, just starting out, birth, etc.

To me, the child looks estranged from parents who are now focsed on the impending new baby. It can be that the young child is looking back on it's prenatal days. I need to be just a bit more controlled toward a meaning in this image, because it looks like it is intending symbolism.
