Please share how you took this shot (i.e Lighting, f-stop, focal length et al).

I REALLY would like to know!! I just bought a 105mm f/2.8 Nikon Nikorr macro lens, and plan to break it in this weekend.

I'd only seen the spider meal III shot, but this POV is just perfect. The fly has obviously succumbed to the spiders venom, it seems, and is being carted away, correct?

In any event, one of the best action bug shots I've EVER seen since joining PN recently, if not the best I've seen so far.

Simply superb.

Cheers!

I won't list all your names, since there are so many :) BUT!! Really many many thanks for all your generous contributions.

As for the settings, I'll try to describe in short.

@ADE and Alibek

I found this scenery infront of my kitchen window. For the second time, I got the chance to shoot these little guys, who seem to be trained on carrying flies and other insects away. :)

I use the very old (ca. 1981) Vivitar 90/2.8 Macro (M42 screw mount) with 1:1 Magnification Ratio + 20mm Extension Tube + Pentax K Mount Adapter and Olympus FL-40 Flash Unit.

This shot, actually is on the outer wall. So, I positioned myself above them at ca. 10cm distance, and used the wall to improve on stabilization. Sure, the very helpful Pentax K100Ds' built-in image stabilization is enough for the most purposes. But here, I needed some extra stabilization, considering the overall weight and the size of the actors. :) Everything were handheld.

Lens Settings: F16 - ISO200

Flash Settings: Don't really know, why but the most appropriate setup for the flash was ISO 140 @ F2.Best regards

I'm starting to feel that everyone else here on pn has seen this shot but me, so add me to the list as saying it's perfectly shot. Truly incredible detail, and lighting could not be better.
