jerrymat 5 Posted June 15, 2002 I feel that when the photographer purposely tips the obviously horizontal that some special message is being made. Obvious examples include from the deck of tilting sailboats, and the implication of being dizzy. Why are the bookshelves tipped here? The message I get here is that the observer is tilting his head to look at the girl's face. Why? I also feel that cropping out the girl's legs would help the picture. Link to comment
detlef 6 Posted June 15, 2002 I like this effect......also I think that if you crop off the legs you will not know where the books where placed...I think this image is well executed! Link to comment
jennifer_ridgeway 0 Posted June 15, 2002 I agree with the cropping of her legs. I think that the tilt is a bit distracting...maybe if the background was "blurred" just a bit more it would have a better effect. I also think that a sharper image would have been more effective here (though alot of my portraits are shot with a softer focus). Over all I like this photo but I would like it a bit more if it had some minor changes. Link to comment
mark_l 0 Posted June 17, 2002 I like how the tilting of the frame adds motion to a static environment. However, I think it is a bit too severely tilted, and the lack of adequate blurring detracts from the focus on the subject. Good capture of her pensive attitude though! Link to comment
sarah_mccolgan 0 Posted June 18, 2002 The face looks a little soft, are you sure the focus is right? Its a great photo otherwise, great body language on the subject, the color and composition are very strong. Link to comment
upe_vantonni1 0 Posted July 11, 2002 i like the picture but the face looks a bit soft. it might be my machine but, imho, the books should be soft and her face sharp. otherwise good pic. Link to comment
hayward 0 Posted July 18, 2002 Like the composition and the angle and the choice of books. Maybe lose the guy in the corner and show a little bit more of her at the bottom of the frame. Link to comment
pboraschi 3 Posted February 2, 2003 I came across you because I saw a guy that gave a 2 on originality on a photo by glen gaffney and this guy is you. So I decided to check out this photo-god who must be amazingly original since he's so loud on his commentary... I must say you are truly original... Who would have thought to tilt the camera and offer such wonderfull perspective...hum...you should sell your work on Photodisc.com,no...no, Tony Stone, I'm sure they don't have anything like that!
