I spent a couple hours out in the garden today chasing butterflies. I

hope you like the images. Thanks for looking and sharing your

thoughts. Cheers - Kerry Harrison

All 3 of your butterfly images are really different, this would be my pick. The dreamy element is what won out for me, your background here could not be better, really nicely composed and presented image. NOW, I drove up the hill to pick up the mail, and what should I find but a parcel from you to me. That was such a pleasant surprise. I was very touched, such a lovely gift you have given me many many thanks. Shall have to see what I have around here that I can return in that box. Again many thanks!

That is just beautiful, as are the other butterfly pics. The colours are amazing and the gentle contrast between the vivid colour of the flower heads and the more muted tones of the butterfly are wonderful. I also like the way you have worked the dof in this one. The emphasis on the butterfly is great. It really is worth creating a stained glass window or panel out of it to show it off to its best advantage. David.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments!

...and to you Roger, I think I can speak for so many of us here at photo.net (especially us flower people), your words of encouragement and your photography are gifts enough. Really, if anyone deserved to be awarded "Patron Saint of Flower Photography", it would be you Roger.

Cheers,

Am sure my wife would say "Patron Saint of obsession". I just love flowers, yours, my own, just about anyone's. Until I discovered p/n I used to never sit here at the computer, now I sit here for hours everyday. That will change very soon as I have to start putting some energy into our business. Than starting in Sept we open our B&B back up. That is always a fun time as a great portion of our guests are return visitors some have been coming for years and years, they are now really good friends. We are usually booked up solid from October until a couple weeks after Easter when we close our doors. We live 2 hours from our nearest town, the drive is spectacular. We are nestled in a little bay with a wonderful beach, you see absolutely no sign of human life. I love it have lived here now for 28 years, I go to town as seldom as possible, usually about every 3 or 4 months. Just about every flower image you see comes from our own garden, sometimes people will send me flowers to work with but I don't travel to find them. My wife is the really keen gardener, I just love working with flowers, they are all I have worked with for 5 years now. About a month ago I had the urge to get back into nude photography which I have not worked in since about mid 1970's. Toyed with working with the beauty of older women, but luckily my senses have returned, and shall stick with the flowers. Anyway Kerry I have jabbered on way to much here, how about we drop the "patron saint" bit, and just say another flower lover. All the people we work with are into flowers in a major way, and I have noticed over the years that flower power is as strong as ever, and the people involved in this field not only photographers are special people, and I love being associated with them.

All the best to you and your family, roger

Amazing capture. The depth of field is perfect. The colours go so well with the Monarchs colour. A very hard capture to get. I know, I've taken a couple of tries at chasing these guys around the yard without much success so far.

Cheers Gord

wouw I love the saturated red colour ! I might go for a simpler composition (e.g. get rid of the left flower) as the flowers compete in attention with the butterfly/ cheers Jana
