BLACK & WHITE

Personally I like the image posted, it has warmth and a strong tonal range. the plates blend to perfect black whilst the garlics are not overly exposed. I agree with some of the previous comments regarding the lone garlic, for me if the garlic were placed in the bowl and the bowl pulled forward this would have made the image more realistic and balanced.Regards Clive

Ok... So, all you did was to burn the garlic: a montage wasn't necessary... Even better ! :-) That's the advantage of using window light - less contrasted than studio flashes. Well done !

I do like the photo. I think many might like to have it on their kitchen wall. However, all technical "stuff" aside, it is not my style of still life. I prefer still life that is not setup just to make a photo. Also, one of the first things I said when I viewed the picture in the newsletter was "what's holding the plate up". Additionally for me there is not enough contrast, i.e., not black enough and not white enough. But it is a nice picture. Rakesh, thanks for letting me view your work and allowing it to be critiqued. I learned much.

I love this photo. The almost all dark objects and background with the garlic reminds me of an old master painting.
