The Saltiest Water on Earth

craig_kunitsky

Taken midway between Salt Lake City and the Nevada border. I actually took out some of the blue already in PS, but since I used Velvia, it was the middle of the day, and I was out in the dry desert, there is still a lot of blue in the scene.

One of the nicer shots I've seen of the Great Salt Lake. On my monitor I see what seems to be a slight blue cast. This is to be expected at this altitude and is easily corrected. The UV is I find not quite enough, it takes at least an 81B to warm things up or a slight tweak in Photoshop.

Thanks for the tips. This is actually a picture of the Utah Salt Flats, about 80 miles west of the Great Salt Lake. The water here is even saltier than the Great Salt Lake and only a couple of inches deep.

Very impressive shot. I somehow lived with the illusion that the Dead Sea has the saltiest water on earth. Send me sample for comparison.

Excellent shot! The exaggerated foreground really helps stress the vastness of the area. I feel like I could almost climb into this one.

Great shot, Craig. I'd vote for a suggested correction as well. It has more pronounced reflection and color contrast. Thanks for sharing.

I have a cropped version of this picture, which looks more like a panoramic (in this folder).

Let me know what you think.
