bob_belanger 1 Posted July 15, 2007 Nice composition...I saw this earlier today and decided to come back. Steve nailed it, I was looking for the word to describe this "raw", that's the emotion. Very effective. Nice job. Link to comment
joe-tury 0 Posted July 15, 2007 Very good portrait work and a creative take on the title. Very nice. Link to comment
kasey wilson 0 Posted July 15, 2007 Steve, Bob and Joe... Thanks for commenting! "Raw" is exactly what I was going for. This title was a hard one, I think! :) KW Link to comment
rogerleekam 0 Posted July 15, 2007 Very effective portrait. Love the expression and the slightly open mouth, also the cropping. Link to comment

kasey wilson 0 Posted July 16, 2007 Thank you, Danielle. I used the "PhotoKit" plug in for PS to convert it to B&W. :) KW Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted July 17, 2007 Kasey, This is so sad. But being the professional that I am, I'll brush my tears away and comment how nicely captured this is. PhotoKit offers a nice set of tools. Link to comment
anthonyd 0 Posted July 18, 2007 Not being part of the club or knowing the song, I do not relate this portrait to that. I just see it as a portrait. A portrait that is well above average in my opinion. I think that the word RAW is fitting in describing it. I think that NAKED and BARE work as well. Not pertaining to the body but obviousely to the soul. I'm especially impressed by the fact that you've portrayed so much emotion with out showing the eyes. The tear streaks show the emotion, of course, but I think that the glistening above the lip and under the eye is the key factor that truly bring it all out. I would like to see just a bit more contrast, but that may just personal taste. Then again, maybe not. The bottom line is that this is an example of the true power of photography when it is done right. Congratulations on this, Kasey. ~Anthony Link to comment
hy 0 Posted July 18, 2007 Very nice take on the title Kasey. RAW is also my first impression when seeing it. It's also a great self portrait. Best regards Link to comment
kasey wilson 0 Posted July 19, 2007 Darren, thank you! The light was natural, from a window, straight on and reflected. :) Anthony! Wow! I am flattered! Thanks so much! :D Hasan, thanks! I guess I can't fool you! :D Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 20, 2007 Very beautiful portrait, great light and b&w tones. Regards. Link to comment
eye of the lens 0 Posted July 22, 2007 As everyone has said it is very RAW and very well done. I can't help but wonder is it staged or were you really crying. And what would make you so sad.-loneliness or something else. I don't expect you to tell me but just wanted you to know the feelings the picture invoked when I saw it. :) Great job. kasey wilson 0 Posted July 23, 2007 Thank you Kazimiera and Barbara! Lots of people have asked if the tears are real! LOL! I say, a girl's gotta have some secrets! ;) KW Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted August 24, 2007 I found you through Jeff Long's workspace. This is truly special. Normally, I prefer portraits with eyes open that I can see. This is a powerful and wonderful exception to that preference. To capture such expression and depth with softly-closed eyes like this is really something. The lighting, accenting her perspiration, the genuine soul and sweetness you've captured and conveyed, her sweet lips parted so gently, even the brushes of her hair and especially the way her skin glistens, all tell a story and provide great emotion that a good portrait wants to do. Thanks. Glad I found this. --Fred Link to comment
kasey wilson 0 Posted August 24, 2007 Thanks so much, Fred! I thought that I had commented on your orange peeling fireman a little while ago, but I looked and it was not there. :( I'll go back and try again! I am glad that you like this image. As a self portrait, it's obviously very personal, and maybe a bit too vulnerable... but somehow, taking the picture enabled me to leave some of my pain in it. Anyway! Thanks for your comment! :) KW Link to comment
