ewert02 0 Posted July 9, 2007 Nice photo, Dave. I really like the unique formation of these rocks. Good choice to limit the sky given that it would not have added much of interest. Good compositional choice to include some of the greenery in the top left to add a bit of flavor to the shot. Good work. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted July 9, 2007 I agree with Daniel -- good composition choices. I'd also like to see this at a time of day that had more directional lighting from the side. Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted July 9, 2007 Dave, this is a very cool shot. I agree with Daniel and Stephen about your development of the composition - well done. The grass on top really has me itching to pull out a driver, a tee, and golf ball and just give it a rip! Not that I ever would, but your image makes it a very inviting notion. Nice shot of South Dakota! Cheers! Chris Link to comment
dave.englund 0 Posted July 9, 2007 Stephan, I posted another version of the image (see image 6175119 in my "Road to Yellowstone" gallery). I would say I "over-cooked" this image with levels and shadow/highlight in Photoshop. The other image is much closer to the look of the early time of day (5:57 AM) and should be a better representative of side-lighthing (the sun would be coming up off the left side of the frame). Chris, it does look inviting doesn't it! However, if memory serves me correctly, what looks like nice green grass is really something a bit more akin to deep rough. You'd be trying to get outta there all day! ;-) Link to comment
