zfgauthier 0 Posted June 29, 2007 I'm thinking about making a big print of this. Any comments/suggestions/criticism is very appreciated. Link to comment
color 3 Posted June 29, 2007 Hi Zachary; I like this shot a lot. It's striking. I like the tones. You could just print it as is and have a good image. As for suggestions, well you might lighten his eyeballs a little by painting a little low opacity white over the parts that "should" be white and you might play with different crops. I'm attaching a version with the whitened eyeballs and a crop incorporated. Hope you find it useful, or at least interesting. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 29, 2007 I'd print it as is (the suggestion of working some on the eyes is a good one, but very little as suggested). I don't like the close crop. Here you have a setting that tells a good part of the story and a hand gesture that is key to the emotion of this photo. If any cropping were to be done, the telephone poll could go. That would accomplish two things, although I'd have to think about it and look at it both ways for a while to decide. First it would allow his hand gesture to feel as if it were gesturing out of the frame, maybe adding a bit of universality or opening the photo up more. Second, and I'm not usually keen on this but I think it would work here because of the nature of the man and the image, it would put the man off center. Regardless, you have a very real, intimate, and expressive photo here to be proud of. Link to comment
