Secret Journey

This spectacular light exists for only a few minutes a day for 3 weeks near the summer solstice. Then darkness rules again.

Wow !!!

Amazing photo Michael. I'm stunned !!!

I'm not a particular fan of such silky water, but here it makes this shot very, very moody. Amazing light in the distance and exceptional exposure handling. I would love to see a larger version of this photo. The 3/3 issue is just ridiculous - but the whole rating system here is nothing but hopeless. I can't find a single weak point here - so 7/7 from me.

Keep up your great work Michael - it's very inspiring and beautiful.

What can you say about your experience in working with H2D ?

I wish I had one some day :)

Regards, Piotr

Thanks for your explanation of this phenomenon. Are these the so called 'narrows'? It is an incredible shot, whch has become something I have almost come to expect from you. It is really hard to find anything to criticize. However as you seem really keen on a brutal assessment : some of the highlights on the rocks are a little fierce, I suspect this is due to the compressed JPEG.

It appears that the 3/3 was deleted overnight. Not sure what happened, and I didn't get any private e-mails, but I appreciate it nonetheless. Thanks everyone for the all of the commentary.

Michael,

The moderators on PN are always on the lookout for ratings abuse and will regularly delete ratings (good or bad, but mostly bad). But as mentioned above, given the quality of your work I don't think the ratings should matter that much to you...:-).

Superb shot Michael. Excellent colours and comp and the flow of the water's really well positioned in the way it leads through the foreground.

This is such an incredible shot and to find out that you basically get a 10 minute window once a year to get it....that makes it even more powerful. The wall lit up in the back and the silky water flowing towards it. Superb!

Michael, simply breathtaking.

It is a textbook example of what a person can do given the folowing ingredients:

(1) Having the equipment.

(2) Having the opportunity (simply being there)

(3) Having the knowledge on how to present a particular moment to the rest of the world.

Now moments (as you well know) will slip through our fingers like sand, but a picture like this will last us all forever.

Thank you, for sharing and capturing that moment so well.
