I cant say im happy with the composition, i feel there is too much

grass and not enough smoke. Cropping, IMO, made it feel a little

awkward. Critique welcome.

Yeah, at first glance you think the poles help frame it but then I think more train would be better ...nice capture though...you can fix it

Not a train man, but this works as a striking image. The very white pole - extreme right is quite distracting and could be fairly easily discarded, similarly removing the shadow in foreground would again help the eye to 'stay' with the subject. Must have made a real nostalgic noise, nice pic.
