Yahiya: If you mean how the foreground is light with the dark sky, it is because of the use of 2 graduated ND filters (one 2-stop hard and one 3-stop hard) with the line of the filters aligned with the top edge of the field (that is why the trees appear as silhouettes). Thanks all for your comments.

To me the grad filter is a little overdone, resulting in the foreground looking slightly overexposed, washed out, and the sky and background too dark. Did you try any with just one of the grad filters, not both?

When I metered the sky and the foreground, I found a 4-stop difference, but not having a 4-stop hard (which costs $160), I used a 2-stop hard and a 3-stop hard instead. During the critique sessions that were part of Galen's workshop, I mentioned this, and Galen's advice was to use a 3-stop hard with a 2-stop soft (not a hard), and adjust the soft until I achieved the 4-stop equalization between sky and foreground. Thanks for the observation. :)
