Gordon, this looks like a butterfly shot you shot in the wild. These are the tuffest to get. You ususally don't have the time to set up the camera, and trying to keep steady is even harder without the tripod. I chased several until i got lucky on one that sat still for about 50sec. I shot like a crazy man with as many different settings as I could get in, so that I would be sure to have at least one good one. Mine ended up not bad. Check it out. Yours is lacking that time to set up, and get good macro quality. Your focus is weak and crispness is lacking detail. Keep trying you will surly hit it better next time. I will rate you a 5 for composition, I love where it landed.

This is a butterfly : Vanessa atalanta , in english : Red Admiral. Need more DOF and details. Don't crop too much your butterfly (as I often do...).

Keep trying ! they are hard to photograph most of the time !

Thankyou for the advice Goerge and Jonathan you are both correct ,I have never shot a Buterfly before I thought I would give it a try , If I only had a macro lens then would of benn a good time cause the darn thing sat still for almost 5 minnutes, and I could of literaly hit the darn thing with My lens , I just bought a Canon 30D and it came with a 28-135 efm f3.5 -5.6 is usm standard zoom it was kind of hard too get close and clean. Soon I am going to get a MP-E 65mm f 2.8 1-5x Macro photo lens and that will make a diferance,Thanks again guys .
