Surf (1)

This photo was taken at Ft.Lauderdale beach where many young surfers

are always there during the weekend. Took one roll, but only very

few came out well and this is the one.

I'd like to hear a little more about how you took this: Is it heavily cropped? You seem really close to the action for 200mm.

Also, everything is in focus, yet also stopped nicely. Very impressive for ISO100, what do you think aperture/shutter speed were? Did you shoot it manually, or with shutter-priority, or programmed?

This is the original photo beside adding the frame. I was quite close to the action because myself was almost in the water.

 

I used aparture priority (f3.5, 1/1000). The picture was taken in the early afternoon.

Is it just me or is it difficult to tell up from down in this image? It almost looks like you were directly above the surfer and he's about to get a mouth full of H2O.

Banzai! I love the colors and the angles and the surfboard shooting out of the frame. I'd also like to know whether you cropped it that way.

I love the shape of the wave left behind. This is what makes the shot for me.
